Hi there! If you are reading this history blog, you are probably interested in history. Just like me!
But who am I? Well, I’m Rob. Nice to meet you. And welcome to my history blog. As a history blogger, I want to entertain myself, but also everybody who reads my blogposts.
Why a history blog?
There’re 2 reasons for me to start this historical blog: I love history and I love to tell stories. So that’s why I decided to be a history blogger!
For my passion for history: I am an historian and history teacher in high school after getting my master degree history and afterwards teaching (University of Ghent, in Belgium) and my master cultural studies (University of Leuven, also in Belgium).
I love history in all its forms: literature, movies, series, lectures but you can also find me working in archives. For example, I managed to track down my ancestors up to around 1650! (I will tell you more about this genealogy research in one of my later articles)
Beside diving into history, I also love storytelling. That’s why I started this history blog. But since I also like working with images, you can find some pictures made by me on my Instagram or Pinterest.
History blog: my plans
If you made it up to here in this post, it means you are somewhat interested (I guess). So let me tell you what my plans are and why you could/should visit this history blog:
- I’m sharing my passion for history and the world, so don’t expect academic articles. I’m more a quirky type of guy, who’s interested in the small parts of history
- Beside the ‘standard’ post, I will also write some reviews of musea, historical movies, historical books etc …
- I will also try to make the best pictures of interested parts of history and our world
- I’m trying to post every monday morning, so you have something interesting to read at the start of your week!
If you have any requests for topics, visits or reviews: let me know!
My history blog: some final conclusions
Although English is not my first language (It’s Dutch since I was born in Belgium, in 1987to be exact) , I do my best while writing for this history blog. If you are annoyed by any spellig or grammer mistakes, please let me know. I see this as an opportunity to learn to be a better history blogger.
As a final conclusion: I hope you will enjoy reading my historical blog. Stay posted via Instagram and maybe we’ll see each other in the future to talk about the past!
Kind regards,
Rob
